Blue Edit. A series of Blue

Artist Yves Klein once stated “Blue has no dimensions; it is beyond dimensions, whereas the other colours are not. All colours arouse specific associative ideas. While blue suggests at most the sea and sky, and they, after all, are in actual, visible nature what is most abstract.”

In pursuit of the colour of the sky, Klein developed a matte version of ultramarine which he declared the best blue of all. He painted over 200 canvases, sculptures and even human models in the hue which he had trademarked as “International Klein Blue”.

Based in Barcelona, Octaevo explores the wonders of the Mediterranean in search of stories to inspire contemporary design objects.  According to Greek culture, the colour blue is said to ward off the ancient superstition of “the evil eye.” To put this in practise, wearing a blue charm on a necklace or bracelet keeps the wearer protected.

Handmade in France, the collection “The Grand Bleu” is composed of monochromatic ceramics created by maker @bylaura. The title is in reference to a French movie of the same name which inspired the ensemble of pieces. “You go down to the bottom of the sea, where the water isn’t even blue anymore, where the sky is only a memory, and you float there, in the silence.”
