Easy guide to measure your Ring Size

How many times have you ordered a ring online, are full of excitement about its arrival but then upon receiving your new jewellery... Oh no! It doesn't fit!

At Cuemars, we curate a great selection of jewellery from different London based, independent designers and makers and the last thing we would like is for you to be disappointed when you receive your parcel!

So we have created this short guide that shows you how to measure your ring size, or someone elses, at home.

Dos and Don'ts

Measure your finger in the evening. This is when your fingers are the largest.

Avoid measuring your fingers when it is cold or too hot as your fingers can be up to half a size smaller or bigger.

Today we are showing you 3 different techniques that the top indie jewellers in London have recommended to us!

Call to action

1- String or Paper

This technique is ideal if you do not have a ring that already fits.

Firstly, cut a thin strip of paper or a piece of non elastic string (approximately 60 mm long) and wrap it around the base of your finger, just below the knuckle.

Mark the paper or pinch the string at the point where these two meet and cut to size.

Now it is time to measure the paper or string in mm which will give you your fingers circumference.

Use the conversion chart below to convert this measurement to your ring size.

2- Ring Diameter

If you have a ring that already fits you or the lucky person who you are gifting a ring to, you can easily calculate the ring size by measuring the diameter.

To do this, you only have to use a ruler or measuring tape and make sure that you measure only the internal diameter of the ring.

Use then the following conversion chart to find out the ring size.

3- Printing Page Guide

If you have a ring and access to a printer, you can use the following method:

- Download the ring sizing chart here and print it without altering the scale (do not click on scale to fit or shrink to fit page).

- Make sure that the ring sizing chart has been accurately printed by measuring with a ruler the line on the printed page.

- Place the ring on the circles until you find the one that fills the inside of the ring without overlapping.

Tip: If your ring size falls between two different sizes, it is always best to choose the larger one.

We hope that now that you have your ring size measured, you can start purchasing rings online with more confidence. Remember that this is only a guide and the most accurate way of learning your ring size is by visiting us at the shop where we will be happy to help you!
